Healthy Brain Food

Alright, so all you probably know that sometimes I can be a real health freak and other times I could care less if it is "bad" for me. Well today, i am determined to be a health freak :).  While i was sitting outside reading, because it is AMAZING weather right now, after i read Alma 34 of course..which is my favorite chapter for now...I read an article from LDS Living titled Boost Your Brainpower

Basically, as you can probably tell from the title, the article talks about different studies on what we can do and eat to keep our brains healthy along with postponing symptoms of memory illnesses. This article is really interesting to me because i mean, yes, it should be common sense to keep our minds and body's healthy we need to eat right, participate in activities, and exercise: i feel that these days we get so caught up in ya know technology and eating crap we kinda "fry" our brains.  But the main thing i enjoyed about this article is the fact that it listed off things we can do or eat to keep our brains healthy.

So you want a healthy brain? Try some of these things:
  • Participate in 11 or more activities per week such as (reading books and magazines, writing, doing crossword puzzles, playing board or card games, participating in group discussions, or playing music, oh and can i add art projects :) ) I mean how hard can that be, it's an average of 2 activities a day give or take..i mean i am even writing now :).
  • Participate in aerobic activity..to keep you in shape. (it is really fun :))
  • Participate in Social interactions ( i know sometimes this is hard..haha)
  • Eat foods with Antioxidants (ex. berries, apples, vegetables, or even drinking fruit juices)
  • Eat Brain foods, some of which are: blueberries, spinach (YUM), broccoli, potatoes, avocados, almonds, eggs, tomatoes, bananas, and cherries.(maybe we could add some of these to our favorite foods lists)
So there it is, a few simple steps to follow and you and I can be on our way to a healthier brain ). This article was kind of inspiring to me. And i can't wait to follow the steps to to a healthier brain.
