Moving Along

Challenge Day 2: Picture of me last year and Now...how have I changed.

So as you can see I really rock at this blogging thing...opps but listen i am still working on it, and here i am today sharing.

Me 1 year ago.

Me Now

So what's Changed?
  • Well Physically i went on accutane...and my skin has gotten ALOT better...even all my friends at work noticed.
  • Last year I went to WV and Florida for Christmas break with Amy and Her Family. Now: I am working at JSMB and at home...we went to Disneyland about a month ago.
  • This time last year JB's "Never Say Never" movie trailer was released and i was so excited...Now:who knew it would help me convert the haters to lovers...and make me more of an advocate of him.
  • Last Year: Austin's last Christmas home before the mission. Now: He is in Panama serving.
  •  Last Year: Lived at the Branbury.....yikes. Now: I live in an awesome apartment Summerlyn with amazing roommates (Mayu, Kari, and Rachel.)
  • Now: Aleisha, Vanessa, Nakana, and I have all become close friends...thanks to work.
  • Now: I am so close to Graduating.
  •  Last Year: I had no idea what Bibingka was. Now: i probably love it.
  • Last Year: I had never slept with a stuffed animal before. Now: I sleep with lil' JJ almost ever night...even though he ends up on the floor every morning..it still counts right?
  • Last Year: i was 22. Now 23...which is much better well cuz it's an odd number!
  • Last Year: I hated getting my blood drawn, and had to have someone go with me. Now: after, 8 months of being on accutane i have mastered the art of going alone...i still hate it thought.
  • Last Year: knew like one song on the guitar. Now: I have now learned like 2 songs on the guitar..do i remember them no...so here is to actually learning how to play this year!!!
Umm yep that's about all I can think of right now. When I reflect over my past year, I have no real complaints, I am very blessed. My spring and summer were so great, work/internship and just playing with friends. Fall was awesome moved into a new apartment with new roommates, become cultured by their music, met new friends and a boy (but of course that didn't last long)...but that's nothing new, welcome to my life, studied more Spanish, oh and let's not forget the awesome JIMMER experience of last year :) . Oh and let's not forget seeing Tay Swift in concert, and Justin Beiber coming out with his first Christmas album!! Merry Christmas Everyone!
Always remember:
"To be happy and to avoid misery, we must have a grateful heart." - Pres Eyring
As we go into this new year and even reflect on our past year, let us have a grateful heart and we will find true happiness.

Just When You Thought You Knew Me

Only 2 more weeks of School...AHHH i kinda freak out a lot, so naturally instead of working on school work i blog, because it's funner (which i just learned is in the dictionary, so all you english people that cringe it's fine:) ).
So to continue with my goal of blogging twice a week i will share Day 1:

5 things people don't really know about me

1. I hate using knives while eating, it just takes time and I would just love if only using forks and our fingers could be proper etiquette.

2. I really really really hate spending money on anything, but I LOVE new things and shopping...don't ask how it all works out. I have constant battles with my self in stores on weather i should buy something especially when it's something I am going to be needed I try to hold off on buying it as long as I can.

3.I Love Having my back scratched. This is all thanks to my dad, when i was younger my dad would make the rounds to each kids room at night and scratch our backs while he talked to us. I love how relaxing it is and i just love it.

4. I think even numbers are gross. Odd numbers sound prettier and look prettier to me. In card games, if we have the choice I deal out an odd number of cards to everyone, my favorite number is 333 (it's just lucky) and I wish i could stay 23 forever or at least skip 24 eww. Odd numbers are just better.

5. I HAVE to be wearing earrings when I am in public. I wear earrings when i swim, when i run, they are an essential part of what I wear everyday. I feel like I look like a boy if i don't have studs or any sort of earring in. The only time i am not wearing earrings is when i am sleeping.

Examples

Amazing Siblings!

You know those times where you realize what's not really right in your life and what you want to change?! Well that happened for me this week. My baby brother, Austin, left for the MTC on Wednesday to study the gospel and learn the language of Spanish before he leaves to teach the people of Panama.

Before Austin left, he was set apart as a Missionary Tuesday night, At the setting apart the stake presidency bore their testimonies, while they were talking about our family and the examples of older brothers and of my mom Austin has, I felt the Spirit so strongly and I know that the love and commitment our family has for each other is because of the faithfulness and keeping of our Heavenly Fathers Commandments. My older brothers and now younger along with my parents have been amazing examples in my life. They have shown me how to shine my light and how happy I can be if i just follow our Heavenly Fathers commandments.  Of course sometimes I roll my eyes when they say I shouldn't do this or that, but i know it is out of love. I have been able to sit back and see their blessings as they follow the lords commandments. I am so grateful for their strong examples and i hope to be an example just like them. I want to stay strong in the church and build my relationship with my Heavenly Father.

I guess what I am trying to say is Tuesday I realized again how important it is to keep our lords commandments and to be that example in others lives, I know that  if we do so the lord will bless us. I not only need to know who I am I need to be able to show people I know who I am.   I know Austin is going to be an amazing missionary because he is learning to rely on the lord and the spirit. I love my little bro and i am kind of excited to start writing to him in Spanish so we can both practice :). I can not believe he is already a missionary...sometimes I still get a little anxiety thinking about it, but i know he is going to be great! I was probably crying my eyes out Tuesday night and Wed when we dropped him off.

Motto For the Summer

"I Have Better Things To Do than My To Do List Anyway"

Kissed By A Rose

Yesterday as my friends and i were looking at flowers for graves my love for Roses was increased immensely.  I have actually never really been a fan of roses, but yesterday as I choose the rose I wanted to place on Taylor's Grave I decided i really want a boy to give me a Rose...yes just one single long steam rose...please no bouquets (gross). I also think one of the problems with roses is i am not really a fan of the red ones.  Oh also me and Zach decided it would be really nice if a Guy put rose petals on the floor with a single rose on the bed...yep my expectations are set high fellas. Here is how pretty the Rose is/was

Blackberry VS I-Phone

So sometimes I sit here in my apartment thinking, "should I go running or do homework, running or homework"..sometimes it's a long constant battle, and so naturally i decided on blogging and watching Modern Family with my roommates, i know i am so proactive :).

Trying to be friends

Yesterday I had an unfortunate BUT "good" experience. As I was getting ready to leave my apartment for the day with my Blackberry phone in my hand, I pulled my keys out and went to lock my door, as I was putting my key in the door my phone dropped bounced off the cement and down to the second level of stairs. At this moment my heart sunk I basically had no hope for my Blackberry but i still ran down to pick it up just to see that the screen was broken. At this point I tried restarting my phone and taking the battery out and putting it back in...and still broken screen...AWESOME. Keep in mind I got this phone for my birthday last year...so I hadn't had it for a full year yet..boo

After an 1 1/2 hours of my heat hurting, a pit in my stomach, the help from my great friend Lauren, the wonderful funds of my Amazing Parents, and help from the Verizon tech guy, and my awesome phone upgrade  I become the semi-proud owner of an I-phone :)

Why I Miss my Blackberry
  • The blinking light/notification style
  • Keyboard style
  • The Blackberry symbol on the back
  • It was the cool phone used in Gossip Girl :)
  • I knew how everything worked

Why I am Excited for the I-Phone
  • I have everything i love in one place: phone, music, scriptures
  • lots of fun aps
  • Touch screen (which is super hard to get used to)
  • It's pretty high tech
  • I can give my phone voice commands

Getting used to new phones is always a hard thing, and I am sure i will be used to/an I-phone pro in a couple months, but Sometimes i wonder if i made the right choice because i was a pretty loyal blackberry owner, So what are your thoughts with Blackberry vs I-phone. Also if any of you have any I-phone tricks just sure let me know :)

The Madness of March Has Come and Gone

Oh my goodness can you believe how fast March has come and pretty much gone....yea me either! The moment mid-night hit on March first I flipped my Calendar over to the month of March, that's literally how excited I was for the month..and why? Well because so many great things were happening this month...including March Madness..I love watching the games each team wants to stay in the game so bad, they play so hard and it's so much fun to watch, last year I had the chance to actually be at some of the games, it was a fun time, but we def sat there for a long time ha.

Some of my March 2011 highlights:
  • Celeste Miller having her baby boy/baby shower
  • Kari's Violin Recital
  • Amy DeLawder coming to Provo...sometimes i wish Utah and WV could be closer together...okay i maybe wish that ALL the time!
  • Juno's Blessing
  • Austin received his mission call to Panama, Panama City Mission
  • MARCH MADNESS
  • BYU making it to Sweet 16...good old JIMMER
  • Falling in love with dance..again
  • Festival of Colors...this year was literally amazing it was the chalk fight of the year, so fun.
  • And last but not least Lauren getting married (which hasn't happened yet...3/2 more days)

Kari Ann Bitter is pretty much amazing on March 18, 2011 she gave her Junior Year Recital..despite what she may say she did amazing! Her Parents were able to come out and provide an after party at Grandma Bitters, it was so fun. Her parents are really great and the food was really great too :).

The Next Day/Night March 19, 2011 I had the awesome opportunity to go to the dancEnsemble concert at BYU that my friend Josh was part of, Sometimes you forget the things in life that make you happy or bring you life and dance is definitely one of those for me! I enjoyed watching the pieces and critiquing them just like I used to in my dance classes in high school and freshmen year.

classic Eye's bigger than stomach situation
Later that day after listening to BYU beat Gonzaga and make it to the Sweet Sixteen, I got to pick Amy up from the airport with her Dad and Abby.....and lets just remember there is never a dull moment with the DeLawders :)...we ate at The Pie for dinner and what did we order? oh just a good old 22" Pizza...bah we barley made a dent in that thing, and of course I was wearing my BYU shirt in the land of Utah...talk about feeling like you are gonna be shot at any moment.

And like I said- last but not least, one of my BEST friends through college (Lauren Cummings) leaves the Singlehood life FOREVER and pretty much becomes dead to me on March 31,2011..it's a bitter sweet time. I am super excited for her, she has done amazing things in life to get her to this point and she deserves the best...she is gonna be the best house wife ;). I just sure hope we still get to play and that she doesn't fall off the face of the planet :). I love her and will miss the good old roommate days. love you Lar-en :).
Someday I'll be a Bride too :)

Yep well there is my March in a nutshell...sorry it's kind of a boring post for others to read, I kinda just wrote it for documentation of my march, so I apologize in advanced if this is boring for you :). Mucho Amor

Just a Little Respect

So, I finally had the blessed opportunity to see Never Say Never this weekend, and guess what...it was AMAZING, of course I mean really i didn't expect anything less of the Movie. Justin Bieber is a kid who is very talented still trying to be a kid, and people hate him for that?? After seeing this movie my mission is to convert all the haters to people that at least respect the child.

While watching the movie there was a part where they were talking about his future and if he would make it and so on...this part actually made me really sad. To be honest I had my doubts, after his voice drops...what's gonna be left for him, but after watching this movie I realized how talented he really was: he plays the drums, plays the guitar, dances, his hair flip, his in with all the top celebrities, and well a lot of girls love him, but in all seriousness I fully believe he is more than just a teen sensations. I am saying it right here and now that he has the full potential to be the next Michael Jackson.

Why will Justin Bieber be the next Michael Jackson you ask, well he is talented in more ways than one just like Michael, he is super nice, he can sing, he can dance, and he can play instruments.. (throughout the whole movie i was just thinking about This is it ). And guess what i have now converted 2 haters/not interested people into full Bieber Fever fans now...i am pretty proud of myself. Anyway i know this blog is kind of random, but i just wanted to get my voice out there and let you know how much Justin Bieber has affected my weekend. Here is to respect for JB.

Favorite Foods...mmm food

Today as I stood in my kitchen looking for food/getting some water after my awesome work out I started craving a 5 piece spicy chicken nugget with a crunchy chicken go wrap from Wendy's, I thought to myself why am i not craving something like spinach, oranges, carrots..ya know the healthy stuff and well my conclusion....i am highly influenced by the American culture....maybe because i am American..big shocker there. So as i sat contemplating the American influence on my food choices i thought about my favorite food list ,which was first inspired by Zach Johnson..so thanks, and thought I'd record it/share it with you all so enjoy/don't get to hungry reading it :).
  1. Gatorade (nothing is better after a summer run)
  2. Fries with fry sauce (def go for the iggy's fry or just the beer battered kind)
  3.  Pretzels (you will always find the 6lb bag from costco wherever my body lives)
  4. Chocolate Covered Cinnamon bears (thank you BYU bookstore and Jonny and Rach for the introduction of love)
  5. Chips and Guacamole/fresh or mango salsa
  6. Rice (one time when i purchased lots of rice i was asked if i was having a Mexican celebration..oh the ignorance of American grocery store people haha.)
  7. Pineapple (oh my gosh best fresh thing EVER)
  8. Chicken (just tell me something is chicken and i'll eat it, when i was younger no matter where we went i always ordered chicken fingers and fries...i tend to find it still being a trend in my life0
  9. Pepper Jack Cheese (best cheese ever...for everything ya know grilled cheese, hamburgers...you name it.)
  10. Granola Bars (another staple in my life that i always tend to have around)
Well that's the end of my favorite foods if I would be totally content living off these foods for the rest of my life..really though.

You wanna know something I wish i could have; the joy of living in a 5 million dollar home that has an awesome patio with an outdoor kitchen...here is to finding a rich man to marry...haha but really living in  that kind of house is a big dream of mine! When in St. George i went to the parade of homes and probably fell in love with a lot of the homes :). There ya go you now know what is on my mind rather than homework(ugh).

mucho amor amigos.

Soundtrack Of My Life

So I sensed a theme after reading Zach and Jamie's blogs...they took my idea to heart and recorded it before me..boo ha j/k it's fine as long as  I get the credit for it all..haha I don't want to do homework so here I will share with you the soundtrack of my life...which might be hard for me to make because I am really bad at decisions so here we go:

 Price Tag-Jessie J ft. B.o.B
Sometimes I wish we weren't all so dependent on $, also i just feel like it makes for a great opening credits/intense running scene.

Walk Away-Ben Harper
Ben Harper is pretty great/i love him so this is the song of his I choose to represent my life,  it explains how I feel about moving on, boo..but sometimes you just have to "walk away".

Your Love Is My Drug-Ke$ha
Ke$ha is really great, and let's be honest crushes/boys are my Drug...

Seventy Times Seven-Brand New
Brand new has to be in my soundtrack of life because I've seen them in concert twice..and this song stands for all the times cop-out lines are used in life.

Forever and Always-Taylor Swift
For all the times I've heard the I love you, or let's get married and next thing you know they are gone...ya know the angry break up moving on song

Break Your Heart-Taio Cruz
"if you fall for me i'm not easy to please" haha best line ever! This is probably my favorite relationship song..shh its fine.

Float On-Modest Mouse
Bad things happen but ya know you just gotta keep floating on..i know this is contradictory to the quote on my blog..but it's kinda what i seem to do more than not

Airplanes-B.o.B ft. Hayley Williams
Well we all know I loved this song when I first found it. It fits the summer star gazing mood/going back to basics so well!

Angel-Akon
We all know I heart Akon and this is just my happy song, it makes me feel on top of the world.

I'm Coming Home-J. Cole Ft Skylar Grey
Finding your place and being "back where you belong" is truly a great feeling.

Time Of Your Song-Matisyahu
To me this song is all about reaching your potential ...gotta love Matisyahu and his inspiration.

Party in the USA-Miley Cyrus (also the Cyrus virus version is awesome as well)
Gotta love Miley really though ..,, sometimes when you are nervous you just gotta let loose and put your hands in the air...:)

Captains and Cruise Ships-Owl City
Mention of places in California I mean why else would it be in my soundtrack of life.. But really Owl City got me through a weird phase in life so they are def in my soundtrack of life, and i 'll put them in the happy part where we run to each other after being apart for so long..ha.

Happy Ending-Mika
I want this in my soundtrack because it's a song that sings the truth about life and "love" it's not always perfect.

Three Little Birds-Bob Marley
This represents the times I spend on the beach and "don't worry cause everything is gonna be alright", island life is where it's at :).

Our Time Now-Plain White T's
This is how I hope to feel when I find true love..happy dance song ha.

California-Metro Station
This song is for all the spontaneous trips I have gone on..gotta love them!..No one has to know if you decide to go...oh and i just love metro station, always put you in a good mood.

My Life Be Like (Ooh-Aah)-Grits
Okay i may have ripped it off of season 1 of the Buried life...but I do love this song and just imagine it playing as i am longboarding down the canyon...free right, yea that's what I thought.

Good Life-One Republic
This had to make it because well my blog name didn't just happen..it's because of this song. And really when you look at it, i have a good life.

There ya go that's the soundtrack of my life....for now, in no particular order. And I chose an odd number of songs because I don't really like even numbers...maybe that means 23 will be a lucky year for me :).   And don't ask how long it took me to compile this list ha..

Cheesecake, Blood, and Muscles

So you may wonder what cheesecake, blood, and muscles have in common..well they all took a part in my past week/weekend. So here let me tell you about my great adventures.

Cheesecake Factory TWICE in 4 days, first just for cheesecake and bread and second for the whole deal: bread, lunch, and cheesecake. Really this experience alone made my weekend. Their taste and huge variety of food and cheesecake never cease to amaze me. If you have never eaten at Cheesecake factory you HAVE to go..I have never really been a huge fan of cheesecake, but no words can describe the wonderful taste I get when enjoying one of their cheesecakes, really though. And my first experience of Cheesecake Factory was in Hawaii, and you can't really hate anything in Hawaii.

Blood: This is not one of favorite memories of the week, but I had to get my blood drawn for this medication i will be going on.. for those who know me, know that this is a challenge for me...and that sometimes I faint. So yes, I am in my 20's and still making my mommy come with me to calm me down.
After the process of making sure I was breathing during the drawing of my blood, I started telling myself I was going to be okay..but i started to feel sweaty and dizzy and I thought: Do i just phsyc myself out and because of my mind I can make myself faint? or is it something with my body composition and what not that make needles poked in me taking my blood faint? Well my mom's answer is that I pshyc myself out..but i don't know. I will be having to get my blood tested once a month, so maybe i will get better at it...all i can say now is my mom better prepare herself for when i am pregnant and need to get blood test, or i better have a really great husband who comes with me :)

Muscles: My last experience, but not least of course was gaining some intense muscle. Lauren and I bought passes to all the exercise classes at BYU and can i just say 1st: I am glad they play real music..ya know the kind you didn't think BYU could play :) ha, and 2nd exercise instructors are INTENSE or a (The B Word) ..you finish the statement your way. Either way My arms hurt so bad...but its a good hurt ya know, i am gonna be burning some fat and gaining some great muscle and i am going to be that intense instructor in no time, or just have a great beach body in no time!!! With that being said I really want to go to the beach ASAP

Alright well that's my life in the past couple of days, some high and low points but still very exciting.
Interesting Fact of the Day: to be considered unemployed you have to be: willing, able and actively searching...sooo technically I am not unemployed, because I haven't really been actively searching...thank you econ.

Maybe The Small Things Really Do Matter

Alright, it's been a while since I last blogged and... I miss it/I am kind of overwhelmed with things i want to blog about. So here I will start by telling you about my Christmas Vacation.
First off I love Christmas, because it's a time where I get to stay home with family, feel the spirit/increase of love, escape from reality of growing up and enjoy lives precious moments.
So like you, I have been bombarded with the questions: Did you have a good break? What'd you do? What was your favorite part? sometimes I feel like we give the common small talk answers to these questions but, I was determined to think up good answers to these questions this year because I wanted my answers to express the uniqueness of  my vacation. So I started thinking about my break and you wanna know something.. my favorite parts of vacations are the little things, that I wish I had pictures of, but end up making the experience for me.

So you want to know my favorite parts of the break?
  •  My Sisters sleeping in my room every night and us watching a movie on my laptop..yes this was every night.
  • Girls Day At Gardner Village spent shopping and purchasing delicious treats
  • Going out to Dinner and Movies with the family
  • Working At JSMB...I love the people there and meeting new people is great, It's one of the few places where I can fully be myself and make great friends.
  • The JSMB Christmas party
  • Singing as a family at Grandmas House on Christmas Eve
  • Opening presents/ watching presents get opened.
  • Playing Just Dance II with the Whole Family
  • Eating Pumpkin Roll
  • Getting the best of both worlds.. meaning i got to spend time with family/friends in bountiful and Amy..one of my bestest friends in the entire world.. and her family in WV/FL..
  • Seeing Amy's face at the airport.
  • 6 people spending the night in 1 hotel room: 2 people on the floor, Amy's mom talking the night away, and one person snoring..best night ever..really though, so funny!
  • Realizing, after holding a wet rag on it, Amy hadn't pulled the backing off of her WV tattoo so it wasn't going to work
  • Witnessing my first real fist fight at a football game.
  • Seeing palm trees
  • Holding a baby alligator and enjoying an air boat ride.

The break was so so great to me!!  I know that these wonderful blessings I was given during the break came from my loving father in heaven. I hope your Christmas Break was as wonderful as mine and that you are able to find the small things that really make your vacations/breaks an experience to remember!
