Who are You

So sometimes with all the of life's busy-ness and crazy-ness we get lost and forget who we are, what we stand for and can loose our true self. I pretty much have these amazing friends named, Zach and Jamie, sometimes when we get together we have pretty deep conversations, we are mature like that. Anyway, one day we were trying to figure out what personality class Jamie was.. you know things like artsy, skater, emo, preppy, that type of thing. Well we were kind of having a hard time. I said Hippie and she wasn't fully into that idea, BUT then i came up with what she really is, are you ready for this....

GREEN SLEEVE: a green sleeve is one who loves the earth, plants, animals, and being unconventional you know- JAMIE.

Jamie's Green Sleeve coimin out.
Green Sleeve..YEA?

you may think this is Hippie, but no it is different, believe me just talk to Jamie for an hour and you will know what i mean. Some are not fully approving of the new class or idea, but i am pretty proud of myself for coming up with it :).

Okay well after this great talk with Jamie and Zach, i started thinking: who am i? What are my real passions, not what i wish my real passions were? I was beginning to think i didn't fit into any category, which sure no one wants to fit into a mold, but i was getting discourgaed thinking i was just some sort of posser in everything i did. And then it came to me, don't worry i know you are all gonna be shocked by this one, i am a...

SURFER GIRL/ BEACH BUM: Yes i am one who loves the beach,
my favorite brand/style of clothing is Roxy,  the one piece of clothing i would stay in forever if i could would be my swimming suit, i love the air-dry hair look oh and no make-up/natural, and even though the waves make me motion sick that does not take my love for the beach and sun away. So Yes i have found who i am. Why i was born and raised in Utah continues to be my biggest question in life. So i love pictures, so i am going to share some of my favorite pictures that capture my surfer girl/beach bum-ness..enjoy:

Yes, my room.should have given away my type..but like i said sometimes you get lost and forget.

This Cartwheel represents my excitement of being on the beach

Yes dance parties on the Beach are a must!

just layin on the beach..Yes please!

Challenge for the new year: Find your true passions and be proud with who/what you really are. I hope you enjoy reading this, because i enjoyed writing it and finding pictures.

Healthy Brain Food

Alright, so all you probably know that sometimes I can be a real health freak and other times I could care less if it is "bad" for me. Well today, i am determined to be a health freak :).  While i was sitting outside reading, because it is AMAZING weather right now, after i read Alma 34 of course..which is my favorite chapter for now...I read an article from LDS Living titled Boost Your Brainpower

Basically, as you can probably tell from the title, the article talks about different studies on what we can do and eat to keep our brains healthy along with postponing symptoms of memory illnesses. This article is really interesting to me because i mean, yes, it should be common sense to keep our minds and body's healthy we need to eat right, participate in activities, and exercise: i feel that these days we get so caught up in ya know technology and eating crap we kinda "fry" our brains.  But the main thing i enjoyed about this article is the fact that it listed off things we can do or eat to keep our brains healthy.

So you want a healthy brain? Try some of these things:
  • Participate in 11 or more activities per week such as (reading books and magazines, writing, doing crossword puzzles, playing board or card games, participating in group discussions, or playing music, oh and can i add art projects :) ) I mean how hard can that be, it's an average of 2 activities a day give or take..i mean i am even writing now :).
  • Participate in aerobic activity..to keep you in shape. (it is really fun :))
  • Participate in Social interactions ( i know sometimes this is hard..haha)
  • Eat foods with Antioxidants (ex. berries, apples, vegetables, or even drinking fruit juices)
  • Eat Brain foods, some of which are: blueberries, spinach (YUM), broccoli, potatoes, avocados, almonds, eggs, tomatoes, bananas, and cherries.(maybe we could add some of these to our favorite foods lists)
So there it is, a few simple steps to follow and you and I can be on our way to a healthier brain ). This article was kind of inspiring to me. And i can't wait to follow the steps to to a healthier brain.

WOW

Can you believe it is December already?! Where did November go? This semester is almost over, and I am SO excited to be done with school and be with my family and visit Amy in good old West Virginia. But The other day I was thinking where have i gone this semester...have i made any new friends, well guess what dawned on me....I have been holding on to the past and not moving forward. Yes, of course I can still be friends with the friends who have graduated and gotten married, but i need to grow where i have been planted.

I was reading in Alma 60 and this part of a verse hit me "..for behold, ye yourself s know that ye have been appointed to gather together men" This scripture helped me realize i have been focusing too much on me and the past and i need to look forward to the future and reach out to the new people around me. Doing this will make me so much more happier! And i want to do some sort of Christmas volunteer work!

Anyway with December here and November gone, i want to list off a couple of things i am grateful for in my life and so blessed to have:
  1. My amazing family

  10. I-pod
  11. Car
  12. Paid for housing
  13. Roommates

  15. Longboarding
  16. Perfume
  17. An abundance of food (sometimes i complain i have no food, but really it's not true)
  18. Clothes..that for the most part are cute
  19.  Water
  20. My running shoes
Man sometime it feels great just to write and let things out

Favorites-BYU Football

Last Saturday being BYU's last home game and This Saturday being the BYU vs Utah game, it's only fitting i express my thankfulness for this sport.

I am thankful for the opportunity I have had to go to the games and sit with friends and family. Ever since I was a little girl, yes you can call me  brainwashed, I remember wearing a BYU shirt/sweatshirt and sitting in crisp fall air watching some good  BYU football. Once I made it to collegem even though I attend UVU, I as able to purchase a BYU all sports pass, allowing me into all BYU sport games..mostly used for football and basketball. Being able to go to games with friends was one of the best times EVER...you know copying the cheerleader moves and dancing on the bleachers (which is how i met Amy, we were sitting with some mutual guy friends of ours and we both started dancing on the bleachers and become the best of friends!)

Anyway BYU football brings me so much joy, I love the thrill of watching the plays and thinking: are they gonna catch the ball?, run the ball?, make the touch down? oh and let's not forget the times when I get to sit with my family and eat delicious food in the cougar club tent before the game, at half time, and get delicious free drinks and treats!

Ah it's so exciting! So Today i am thankful for BYU football because i get an adrenaline rush while watching it, I get to see my family, I get to be surrounded by people all enjoying the same game, and i get to enjoy the awesome stadium music, it's great. So whatever your sport or college team go out and enjoy the LIFE it brings to you as you stand in that stadium surrounded by others, who share your same love for the game.

The fam at the Vegas bowl..and Yes it WAS freezing in Vegas.
The impulse Washington trip..to watch some BYU football!

We just love games!

Favorites-Longboarding

Today i am thankful for longboarding!! Yes, it may have been the activity that put me over the edge and made me confirm the fact that I AM sick..i woke up this morning with a great fever. Besides the fact that i woke up sick this morning, and sometimes it scratches up my shoes/clothes/body Longboarding is great!

Yesterday was 54 degrees, the best fall longboarding day in Utah ever!!! So upon waking i knew i wanted to longboard at somepoint during the day! So i tried to get Katelyn (lauren's sister) to come with me, while i was waiting for her to say she could go i started feeling more sick, but then Zach brought his longboard over and i went with him and Jaron to get ice cream and i was feeling great! So, naturally after katelyn said she was sick and couldn't go, Zach and I headed up to the Canyon!! And oh my gosh, it was the BEST!! It was one of the most brightest nights EVER, and Zach and i discovered a new park that we rode around in..which was probably my favorite part!

So why am i thankful for longboarding? Because i feel free when i ride on it, i feel pretty much like the coolest person ever, It's an outside sport that helps me enjoy nature, and last of all it brings me and my friends together! Longboarding may be the best recreational sport, i will miss it dearly once snow hits the sidewalks!

An Artist's Inspiration

Friday night i was inspired by a great canvas painting. I was in my apt complex's clubhouse playing pool and i just kept thinking how cool the painting was and that i wanted one just like it!! So naturally, because of my new obsession to be artsy/creative, i came home and started sketching what I hope will eventually become my own Canvas painting. Below is my sketch of what i have accomplished so far. I wish i could have found a good picture of my inspirational piece, but sadly i couldn't...you might just have to come to the club house and see it yourself.

Creating this has made me happy! I am so excited to paint it, so i hope you enjoy it, and find something you enjoy to do as well!

each square will eventually represent a piece of who i am

Favorites-Mullets

You might wonder what makes me think you are the coolest person ever right off the bat? Well I will tell you, if you are a boy it's defiantly having your hair styled in a Mullet!!

My new boyfriend!
Okay so you may think i am weird, but i am kinda in love with Mullets this year!  I had a dream about Mullets the other night, sure call me obsessed, so i thought I'd share my love for them with you guys..and maybe even sway you into loving them too :)!

Now don't get me wrong, i am not a fan of the white trash nasty mullets...just the well groomed ones, i especially love them on skater boys, surprise right? HA. Anyway  I think they are the coolest haircuts in the world plus Zach even found a book titled Mullet: Hairstyle of the Gods, (makes a great gift, if ya know what i mean :) ) now if that title doesn't convince you to love mullets i don't know what will.

What has come from this love of Mullets, Well the decision to give my little boys the coolest mullet hairstyles EVER. And the new idea that nothing could make me happier than making a friend with a mullet..new goal, i think so!  Even though this love has had much disapprovel from my mom and even friends...I just can't help myself..they are SO cool!  So just come out and say it, You love mullets too!

Gift of Gratitude

It has arrived, the month de Noviembre! This month helps us focus on our blessing and what we should be thankful for, yes we should be doing this everyday, but thank goodness we have a month dedicated to it. From Pres. Monson's Talk The Divine Gift of Gratitude (i strongly encourage you to read, or re-read it!) he asks, "Do we remember to give thanks for the blessings we receive?" The more I thought about this question, the more I thought about ways I can show my thanks for my blessings.

Every year around this time/Thanksgiving I like to make a list of my favorite things. For me showing thanks for blessings or what I am grateful for is making them some of my favorite things to do, be with, study, or visit. So for the month of November I will share with you some of my new favorites this year, look for my favorites posts every week!

I know our Heavenly Father blesses us with things in our lives that make us happy and can help us grow. I love thanksgiving and learning the gift of gratitude. I tried to find my favorite part from Pres. Monson's talk to sahre, but i love it all, so i am gonna put another plug in for it and say READ IT, but i will say reading the account from Matthew and realizing they were focusing on only what was lacking made me realize how often I do that and need to change. This talk will remind you of the simple joys we receive from being grateful!

"When we encounter challenges and problems in our lives, it is often difficult for us to focus on our blessings. However, if we reach deep enough and look hard enough, we will be able to feel and recognize just how much we have been given." -Pres. Monson-

Time For Change

This makes me Happy!

Okay so this week has been probalby one of the best weeks of fall semester, why? Because I was socail again..I played with old friends, I played with new friends...and there is just something about being with friends and
people that make you soo happy!

Even with this week being as amazing as it was, I still feel like i need to change my life..hence why I started by chainging the look of my blog, there are just those times in life when you NEED a change in your life.

So what things am I going to change?
My Hair: I am so board with it, and I want new bangs badly!!
(Any suggestions for hair styles accepted!)
My Room: I never fully got it decorated the way i wanted this year..i kinda feel embarressed when people come in my room, because it doesn't fully represent me..or what i want it to reprsent.
(Help with moving furniture would be geat :)
My Free Time Activities: Sometimes i am disapointed in what i end up doing or getting done in the hours I am home.

These three things are what I am going to focus on this month! First off with my hair, well we all know i am really bad with making decisions, so here is an example of a hair style I liked having. And this is an example of how like my bangs, but i would maybe do more piecy bangs...uhh i suck at decisions. So any input would be awesome :)!

Next with my room, well it's small and there is not much room for rearanging, but i have one idea, and then i am going to finally print pictures from costco and put them on my wall...oh and i am going to get a plant..so who wants to come pant shoppings?!

And lastly with my free time activities...well first I am going to be good at gettting homework done in a timely manner. And i vow not to spend too much time on the computer as the weather starts to get colder..it's going to be hard, but I plan on staring up crafts/frinedship braceltes, reading, and visting friends more often!

So here is to Change! My list is here on the internet, so know you can all keep tabs on if i really reach my goal for the month! So if you are feeling down or not so happy with how things are going, try changing some things up, oh and visiting old friends always makes your day brighter!!

Love you all!

Hockey Vs. Opera

This past week i had 2 NEW experiences; going to a hockey game and going to an opera. Now you may not think you can compare the two..but from my experiences you most certainty can :).

When you hear the phrase "Hockey Game" you probably think "fun, exciting, intense fights, some good ice action" right??...well Friday night may or may not have proved that theory wrong. Granted i had never really been to a hockey game before, so i did not know any of the rules. So Lauren, Felipe,  Damion (sp.) and i showed up to the BYU Utah State game right after the 1st quarter had just ended it was 1-0 for Utah State, not bad right. Okay well in the 2nd quarter Utah State scored 10 pts and BYU scored 0...you can just imagine how fun that was...BYU could not get a handle on the puck at all..they always lost control! We left after the 2nd quarter to go play rockband..needless to say my favorite part of the whole game was the breaks where they played music and talking to Lauren. At least we had 2 for 1 coupons.

Now for Opera. When you hear Opera most people may think "long and boring". Well Thursday night i attended Mozarts Magic Flute put on by BYU's performing arts students. The opera is about a prince and his feathery friend who set off to find their true loves. Well if anyone knows me, you know i am a sucker for love...i am basically a hopeless romantic :). The singers were very good and i loved the humor, my favorite character is papagano...he is a bird catcher he kinda of represents the normal folk of us all. His costume with all the feathers and colors was my favorite! and of course he meets his papagana...and they have the cutest little papgana/o's! Of course the performance was a little long for my liking (3hrs), we got free tickets and maybe an idea for Halloween costumes, i might even say i enjoyed this more than the hockey game...

Soo the moral of the story... next time you are given the choice of attending a Hockey Game or An Opera...you may want to think twice about your decision. :). Also don't be afraid to go out and experience new things, who knows what you will learn or find!

The Cure For A Bad Day.

You know that one moment in the day that only last 20 min, but ruins your whole day or that one little bit of information that just makes you wanna cry and go home never to see the world again? Let's face it we all have those days and sometimes they really suck.

My day of not so happy-ness just happened to be yesterday. I had just returned from a much needed wonderful fall break, where i didn't once touch any sort of school work or work its self. As known before i left i had an in class writing letter assignment for my business communications class the day i returned. I was lucky enough to be given the computer that is having problems printing, so i had to email my letter to my teacher, simple task right...that's what i thought. I saved my document and went into my email and clicked on add attachment...well my "saved" document could not be found in any location...by this time the next class had come in and started class...i was feeling rushed and kept trying to find out what was happening, i walked to my teachers office only to find she was not there..i returned to the classroom(where the next class was going on) and tried again..i effenutally just copied and pasted my letter into an email...i was very upset and hated school at this moment!

Well i was relieved to be done with school for the day I started heading to my car mumbling under my breath about how stupid school was! When i was half way to the parking lot i remembered i had in fact NOT parked in the usual parking lot i park in...i had parked in the lot clear across campus...well that just put me over the edge...from that point on i had decided: this day sucks! It may seem ridiculous that i let such little events effect me so much, but in the moment they seem like a HUGE deal!

You're probably wondering what good thing came out of yesterday. Well lots of things, but I rediscovered what makes me happy or what i like to title my list of happiness: The cure To Morgan's Bad Days.
  1.  Indulging in some good online television: "better with you"
  2.  Taking a much needed nap
  3. Jogging in fresh fall weather..that's a given, but i could run forever on bad days.
  4. Discovering old music you haven't listed to in forever that you love.
  5.  Enjoying amazing weather
  6.  Talking with friends
  7.   Hanging out with kari at her Grandma's cozy home!...there is something about homes that just make you feel better inside!

The bad days are going to come, but what are we going to do to conquer them. Whether its watching your favorite tv show, enjoying the beauties of fresh air, or enjoying others company, God has given us life and the bright out look of the gospel to keep us going, and to eventually change our attitudes. What cures you on your bad days? Oh I can't forget to put a plug in for chocolate..it's a cure for any girls bad day!

The Life of a College Kid

Okay there are some who complain about the hard life of being a single college kid; you know having to work on top of going to classes and dating and being starving. That's a bunch of bull, I mean think about it what do we really have to complain about?! You can do anything your way! Here are my favorite things about being single and in college!

1. You get to eat whatever you want...whenever you want
2. Your wardrobe is doubled..aka roommates
3. Sleepovers every night
4. Get to play skip-bo with Kari every night..yes every night!
5. You get to live in spontaneity ALL the time!
6. You get to/forced to learn responsibility for yourself
7. You get to decorate things your way!
8. its all about you!
9. Dance parties In your house!
10. Meeting people from allover and being enlightened by them!

I know that this list may seem very selfish, and yes i admit being a single college kid you can become very selfish, but you also learn how to live with roommates and be there for them; when they are having relationship problems, when they do awesome on a test, when they just want to chat, and when you both have nothing to do on a Friday night. Yes, i am in one of the most exciting stages of life and i love every minute of it!
